This five-day retreat is a welcoming, guided introduction to life at the ashram with Cat O’Connor, a graduate of the Sivananda Ashram Yoga Retreat Teacher Training Course (TTC). It is designed for those who are curious about the ashram experience and would like support in learning its rhythm, traditions, and daily flow, while also exploring writing as a tool for reflection and self-discovery.
Participants will follow the regular ashram schedule alongside the full community, including morning and evening satsang, two daily yoga classes, shared meals, and time for rest and reflection. Living this rhythm together allows yoga to happen naturally throughout the day, while also creating space for the unfolding process to deepen.
Each afternoon, Cat will guide participants through a blend of prompted and free writing practices designed to encourage reflection, clarity, and authentic self-expression. These informal sessions include time for personal writing and the opportunity for sacred sharing within a supportive group setting, as well as space for questions, connection, and gentle guidance. No previous writing experience is necessary, only a willingness to arrive with an open heart and curious mind.
Set within the magical space of the Sivananda Ashram on Paradise Island in the Bahamas, the experience is gently supported by warm ocean breezes, soft white sand, and inspiration at every turn. The integration of yoga, meditation, satsang, and reflective writing offers a powerful opportunity for insight, connection, and renewal.
This program is part of the Retreat Leader Program, which supports Sivananda TTC graduates in growing as leaders and introducing their communities to the ashram through an authentic, guided retreat experience.

Cat O’Connor has been teaching yoga for over 20 years. In 2022, she deepened her studies by completing her 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training at Sivananda Ashram Yoga Retreat, immersing herself in the classical teachings of Hatha yoga, pranayama, and meditation. She holds a deep respect for the Sivananda tradition and the ashram setting, valuing its simplicity, discipline, and devotional approach to practice. Meditation and self-inquiry are central to how Cat approaches teaching and life.
Alongside this classical foundation, Cat’s earlier training includes extensive study in the Ashtanga Vinyasa tradition, as well as complementary training in Yin, Restorative, and other therapeutic modalities over the years, which continue to inform her thoughtful and balanced approach.
As a powerful complement to yoga, Cat is a dedicated writer and retreat facilitator, guiding reflective writing sessions and sacred sharing circles that invite honesty, connection, and personal insight. Her work weaves movement, stillness, and storytelling into spaces that feel intentional, grounded, and welcoming.
She is passionate about creating containers where strength and softening coexist, and where each participant feels safe and supported in their unfolding.
