Regulate Your Nervous System with Yoga Practices

Fundamental Tools of Medical Yoga

Mala Cunningham
Tuition: $295

Yoga works—and now there’s proof. New technologies now allow researchers to see directly into our brain and observe how yoga practices shape our brain and our neurobiology. It’s groundbreaking to understand that through Yoga practices we can alter and re-wire our neuropathways—and therefore change negative thoughts, feelings, and behaviors.

In this course, you will learn the fundamental concepts and tools of neuroscience and medical yoga to make positive changes in your neurobiology, or that of your students, along with hands-on techniques designed to help improve mental, emotional, and physical health.

Together we will explore:

  • Cortisol levels and how they get activated
  • The impact yoga practices can make on the calming hormones: dopamine, oxytocin, serotonin, and endorphins
  • The vagus nerve
  • Which yoga postures activate the sympathetic nervous system vs. the parasympathetic nervous system
  • Dysregulation vs. regulation
  • Depression vs. anxiety
  • Activation vs. calming

You will learn how to increase self-care, resiliency, peak performance, happiness, and compassion, and also how to work through negative emotional cycles such as anxiety, depression, addiction, anger, and stress. These techniques and tools are on the cutting edge of neuroscience and Medical Yoga. Come learn what Neuroscience, Yoga, and Mindfulness have to offer you.

No prior yoga experience is necessary. This course will benefit yoga practitioners and yoga teachers alike.
