Step into the timeless practice of Vedic Chanting, where the ancient wisdom of Sanskrit mantras, revealed to yogis in deep meditation, guides us toward alignment with the divine and natural intelligence. This powerful practice of reciting high-caliber poetic hymns is more than just a meditation technique—it’s a transformative journey for the body, mind, and spirit. Vedic Chanting refines hearing, enhances focus, and frees the voice while soothing the mind and subtly shifting consciousness. Rooted in tradition, this practice adheres to precise guidelines of melody, rhythm, and pronunciation, preserving its potency for thousands of years and imbuing it with an unmistakable resonance.
In this immersive program, we’ll explore a selection of mantras, experiencing the profound impact of these ancient sounds as they move through us, whether by listening or chanting along. Through the traditional method of adhyayanam (“listen and repeat”), you’ll learn proper pronunciation, rhythm, and intonation in a relaxed, supportive environment. You’ll also experience the benefits of rhythmic breathing (pranayama), sensory withdrawal and focus (pratyahara), and concentration (dharana). For those who feel drawn to the practice, Vedic Chanting offers a vibrant path into the heart of meditation.
What makes this program truly special? These rare teachings come through an unbroken lineage that has been passed down through generations. Ivy Ingram, trained by her teacher Shantala Sriramaiah in the Mysore sampradaya of the Krishna Yajur Veda tradition, brings a deep respect for the practice, making her clarity of voice and gentle teaching style a joy to experience.
