John Kastner is one of Canada’s most acclaimed documentary-makers and has won four Emmys and received five Emmy nominations, more than any other individual in Canadian television. His works include Life with Murder, Four Women, Fighting Back, and The Lifer and the Lady, the story of a convicted murderer and a prison volunteer who fall in love. In 2007, he was honored by the Academy of Canadian Cinema and Television with its Achievement Award. He and his family have been friends of the ashram for many years.
