In this program Ram Vakkalanka will present rare and ancient wisdom about the sixteen Adharas. The Sanskrit word ‘Adhara’ means foundation, base, and support. The Siddha Yoga tradition, one of the most ancient, albeit lesser-known, traditions of Yoga, teaches about these sixteen (shodasha) vital bases of Energy in our body.
Each one of these sixteen bases of Energy has its location, focal point, Chakra (Energy vortex), Padma (purified Chakra), Tattva (Energy Principle), Mantra (Energy Vibration), and Bindu (Point of Infinitude).
Seven of these Adharas are mentioned in other Yogic traditions such as Hatha Yoga, as Chakras, and are quite popular among modern Yoga practitioners. However, mastery over all the sixteen Adharas is considered vital in the Siddha Yoga tradition. Some ancient yogic texts declare that a Yogi who doesn’t know the sixteen Adharas is a Yogi merely in name.
Learn about the ancient Siddha Yoga tradition, the source of this wisdom. Then dive into the sixteen Adharas; their location, focal point, and the techniques for meditating on them. Workshops will involve simple yoga postures, Pranayama, and guided meditations. Please dress comfortably.
Offered as 2 satsangs and 2 workshops (subject to change)
