Come attend this comprehensive and fully-experiential, on-the-mat workshop. It will explore the dynamics of anatomy and how to precisely apply alignment to common yoga postures. We will delve into the goals in specific postures as well an anatomically-based rationale for all postures and forms of movement. The presentation will be practical, yet easy to understand and apply immediately to teaching or to a personal practice.

Learn how to:

  • Maintain and advance your yoga practice with correct alignment, and importantly, without injury
  • Recognize common habits of misalignment that cause injury
  • Use your yoga practice as a sophisticated form therapy and rehabilitation
  • Increase flexibility and strength while preventing injuries

This workshop is appropriate for all teachers and students of all levels and styles of yoga. You only need be excited to probe deeper into yoga asana. All teachings utilize the most advanced understanding of anatomy and posture while remaining attuned with the wisdom of yoga and its principles.

Offered as 1 satsang and 3 workshops (subject to change).

Steven Weiss, MS, DC, E-RYT, C-IAYT is a holistic chiropractor and nutritionist, yoga therapist and yoga teacher for over forty years. Along with his understanding of anatomy and postural alignment, Steven has studied many traditions of yoga. He brings all their essential principles into an integrated, user-friendly approach to yoga asana alignment. As a certified yoga therapist with the International Association of Yoga Therapists, Dr. Weiss has explored in depth how asana practice can be a powerful method of injury rehabilitation and prevention. Dr. Weiss’ background and expertise in posture and body mechanics brings a unique, hands-on approach to his workshops.

Steven had been the resident chiropractor and nutritionist with the Omega Institute for Holistic Studies in Rhinebeck, NY for 17 years. During that time and since, he has continued with them as Yoga faculty. Dr. Weiss teaches at Sivananda Yoga centers in various locations in the United States, Canada, and Europe.

Dr. Steven Weiss is the author of the yoga text, Yoga Alignment Principles and Practice, now also released in Spanish. He has also authored The Injury-Free Yoga Practice and the Integrative Alignment Yoga Therapy Manual. All are comprehensive explorations into alignment and postural mechanics, anatomy and the prevention of yoga injuries.
