Prayer can be more than asking for what we need—it can be a sacred practice of listening, surrendering, remembering, and opening the heart. Inspired by the teachings of Swami Sivananda, this program explores three expressions of prayer: turning toward the Divine in times of difficulty, opening the heart through gratitude and thanksgiving, and extending our prayers beyond ourselves for the peace and wellbeing of all humanity. When life feels uncertain or painful, prayer offers a place to soften, release what we cannot control, and discover a deeper source of strength. Through gratitude, we learn to recognize the grace woven through both the ordinary and extraordinary moments of life, allowing appreciation to become a pathway to greater joy and connection.
As the heart becomes more open, prayer naturally expands beyond the self. We will explore how our inner practice can become an offering of peace, healing, compassion, and light for all beings. Rooted in Swami Sivananda’s teachings on universal love and selfless service, this experience invites us to discover prayer not simply as words spoken to the Divine, but as a way of living in relationship with the Divine—with greater tenderness, trust, devotion, and awareness. Together, we will explore how a prayerful heart can become a vessel for grace, carrying its light from our own lives into the wider world.
