Life is Sweet

Practices for Sweet Self-soothing to Overcome our "Addictiveness"

Durga Leela and Tarini (Shanna Dadisman)
Tuition: $495

Are you struggling with unhealthy habits you wish you could change but don’t know how? There is a solution. Replace limiting behaviors, thought patterns, self-sabotaging and addictive tendencies with the practices of Yoga of Recovery.

Our sense desires can be distracting and cause disruption, with cravings leading us to cross-addictions, relapse, or aggravation of chronic disease conditions. Resourcing ourselves with practical Ayurveda, we can learn to creatively channel our senses through sweet, self-soothing, constructive sense therapies. Discover a Sense-able recovery pathway which offers us practices that are supportive rather than destructive, helping us to calm the mind and soothe the body.

Sense therapies can help us reduce stress, promote relaxation and resilience, and cultivate a sense of sweetness and pleasure in our life. Life is Sweet encourages us to explore our sense-based awareness and find ways to connect with the 5 elements, our senses and how we receive and express ourselves in the world.

This five day retreat is based on the 6 Tenets of Yoga of Recovery, specifically the 4th Tenet – Life is Sweet.

Prerequisites:
Open to all. We suggest at least three months of continuous sobriety for AUD/SUD guests, as we are not a medical/detox facility (if this is the level of care you need please seek appropriate help immediately). Please contact us if you feel able to attend in your early sobriety—we’d like to ensure that the retreat is the best option for you. Those with eating disorders or behavioral addictions (relationships, gambling, spending, etc.) should have enough stability to embark on this work.

Other:
Please note there will be a Yoga of Recovery Symposium titled Moving Beyond Addiction from May 5-9, 2025 Just prior to this program. We invite you to extend your stay for this transformative Yoga Vacation Program.

Durga Leela is an Ayurvedic and Yoga Therapy Specialist and the founder of Yoga of Recovery®, a comprehensive program that integrates Ayurveda and yoga with recovery tools for those affected by addiction and self-destructive behaviors. She teaches a holistic approach to recovery, integrating mind, body, and spirit. She overcame her own struggles with addiction and is a grateful member of 12-step fellowships for over 20 years. She is the author of Yoga of Recovery: Integrating Yoga and Ayurveda With Modern Recovery Tools for Addiction with a foreword by David Frawley.

For the past 10 years, Tarini has closely studied with Durga Leela, incorporating the practices of Yoga of Recovery into her unique recovery journey.

Tarini’s own recovery journey led her to discover the transformative power of Yoga of Recovery. She has attended multiple Yoga of Recovery courses since 2014, completed the Sivananda Yoga Teacher’s training course (Yoga Farm, California 2016), became a Yoga Nidra facilitator (2016 with Dr. Marc Halpern), and graduated as a Yoga Therapist from Yoga Vahini’s 4 year course in 2022. Throughout these programs, she gained invaluable insights into her addictive habits and discovered effective tools and practices to find her own flow through life’s challenges. Tarini (she/her) brings a unique perspective to YoR Yoga Therapy sessions, drawing from her personal experience as someone in long-term recovery from heroin use disorder.
