There’s a song that’s yearning to be sung through all of us… that deep, magnetic pull in our souls is right there in the center of everything, yearning for the Sacred to find voice in our lives. Our song is the sound of Life itself, the creative force of the universe – Shakti – singing through us. It might want to take the form of an actual song or chant, a book, a service project to shelter the homeless, a revolutionary new business idea, a simple act of forgiveness, a new partnership, or a commitment to learn a new musical instrument. If you’re feeling that undeniable calling, COME… Join us as we find our soul’s Voice together in one of the most pristinely beautiful and sacred places on the planet as we dive deep into our soulful, energetic possibilities and to choose Love, Healing, and Sacred Connection.
We’ll share 6 blissful, life-changing days together in our journey through music and mantra! You’re invited to explore ANY INSTRUMENT you feel inspired to share in the safe, sacred sangha of our loving community! (Harmonium, Voice, Guitar, Drums, literally any instrument that inspires your practice!) In a supportive, nurturing, and judgment-free environment you will be led through vocal exercises and introduced to at least 15 deeply heart-blossoming, accessible, and familiar chants that move your heart into a place of love or bhav. Girish will teach you how to play these chants on your instrument of choice and provide you with a unique and simple notation guide so that no matter what your musical experience you can learn to play the correct chords.
You’ll also be invited to share your personal kirtan practice in the safe, loving circle of our retreat sangha, if that is something you feel called to do (it’s optional)!
Girish is an internationally touring world music artist, teacher, and author. He began his music career as a jazz drummer, spent five years as a monk in a Hindu monastery, returned to music as a session tabla player on more than a hundred world music albums, and for the past fifteen years has written, recorded, and performed his own original music and taught Sanskrit mantras and chanting in music festivals and yoga studios all over the world. His seven albums have received critical acclaim from O, The Oprah Magazine, Yoga Journal, and The Guardian, among others. Girish’s book, Music and Mantras, continues Girish’s mission to share the art of meditation through music and mantra with the world.
