Jan Willis is a professor of Religion Emerita at Wesleyan University and has studied with Tibetan Buddhists for more than 50 years. She published many of books and articles about various topics in Buddhism, including Buddhist meditation, hagiography, women and Buddhism, and Buddhism and race. Her most recent book was her memoir Dreaming Me: Black, Baptist and Buddhist, One Woman’s Spiritual Journey. She’s received many accolades, including honors from TIME magazine, Newsweek, Ebony magazine, and Wesleyan University.
