Golden Milk Recipe
As the year winds down and the weather cools, a warm cup of golden milk is the perfect way to slow down and nourish your body and mind. This beloved Ayurvedic drink blends turmeric and warming spices with milk for its calming, anti-inflammatory, and digestion-supporting benefits—making it a simple ritual for peace, comfort, and well-being.
Ingredients:
- 2 cups of unsweetened almond milk (or your preferred milk)
- 1 tsp of ground turmeric
- 1/2 tsp of ground cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp of ground ginger
- 1/4 tsp of ground cardamom (for a fragrant, warming touch)
- 1 tbsp of coconut oil (optional, for extra creaminess)
- 1 tsp of honey or maple syrup (to taste)
- A pinch of black pepper (enhances the absorption of turmeric)
- A pinch of ground nutmeg (optional, for warmth)
- A dash of vanilla extract (optional, for added flavor)
Instructions:
- Combine Ingredients: In a small saucepan, combine the almond milk, turmeric, cinnamon, ginger, coconut oil, and black pepper.
- Heat Gently: Heat the mixture over medium-low heat, stirring continuously. Make sure it doesn’t boil—just get it hot enough to be comfortably sipped.
- Sweeten: Once warmed, remove from heat and stir in the honey or maple syrup, and the vanilla extract if using.
- Blend (Optional): For an extra frothy texture, you can blend the mixture in a blender for 20-30 seconds.
- Serve: Pour into your favorite mug, sprinkle with a little nutmeg or cinnamon on top, and enjoy mindfully.
