Description: 

In this practical webinar, we will explore the basic bio-mechanic principles in relation to the movements of the spine, and will define and explain the releasing and stabilizing techniques of the spine. We will understand the reasons behind the sequence of the asanas we practice and how it can support our health.

In this workshop-style webinar, we’ll experience the range of simple movements in different areas of the spine in order to develop more awareness of the spine and its movements. We then will explore some of the preparatory (warm-up) exercises and some of the main asanas in relation to releasing & stabilizing techniques. In the end, we will use this practical understanding to keep our spine healthier.

This program is offered live through Zoom webinar with the availability for students to interact through Q&A with the presenter.

Requirements & Recommendations: 

  • No experience necessary. This program is open to beginners as well as advanced practitioners.
  • Viewing Device: Desktop or laptop computer will provide the best experience, although you can also connect via a tablet or smartphone.
  • Internet connection: High-speed broadband wired or wireless is best.
  • Video: Download Zoom to your computer, or install the Zoom app to your device.  For interactive group sessions, a webcam or integrated camera will allow others to feel more connected with you.
  • Audio: Headphone speakers are recommended. If you wish to participate vocally, a headset with a microphone will be ideal.

Krishna Chaitanya is a physical therapist, senior staff member of the Yoga Retreat, and senior instructor of Hatha Yoga in the Teacher Training Course and other courses. He has taught for more than 20 years and specializes in working with the elderly population. He teaches Adaptive Yoga, Chair Yoga, and has many years experience helping individuals with all kinds of physical limitations.
