Nirmala is an advanced Sivananda Yoga teacher, e-RYT 500, and an instructor in the Sivananda Teacher Training Course. In 2005, with the goal of promoting peace in her city and the world, she founded Atman Yoga, the school through which she spread the teachings of yoga and lifestyle in Medellin, Colombia, once known as one of the most violent cities of the world. She does this by offering yoga classes on a donation basis, teaching yoga in public parks for hundreds of people, organizing yogic peace events, and other efforts. She also founded Vanadurga ashram where many people are training in yoga and peace.
