The Principles and Practices of the Yogic Diet

The Yogic Diet is a vegetarian diet conducive to the practice of Yoga. Proper diet will assist with progress of spiritual connection, and will increase vitality, energy, health and joy in your life. Learning these ancient teachings based in the science of Ayurveda will also help you to reduce stress and redefine your relationship with food.

The Yogic Diet uses a balance of fresh fruit, vegetables, cooked whole grains, milk products, legumes, nuts and seeds, using a combination of both raw and cooked foods.

In addition to balancing our physical bodies, the foods we eat profoundly affect our minds. The Yogic Diet helps you attain physical health, keen intellect and serenity of mind. In this course you will learn the principles of a healthy and balanced way of eating and how to cook from a Yogic perspective. You will also discover the connection between the food we eat, our thoughts, and how to create a positive, happy and peaceful state of mind.

Learn the principles on how to design a meal using different kinds of healthy and energetic foods full of Prana (the subtle life force) that will leave you satisfied and fulfilled and will give you more energy to face the challenges in your daily life and your spiritual practice.

Pranava Chaitanya is an advanced Sivananda Yoga teacher and senior staff at the ashram. He regularly teaches workshops, courses, and delivers satsang talks on a variety of topics including yogic practice, meditation, positive thinking, raja yoga, yogic diet, stress management, and yogic tools for happiness. He is one of the most popular and beloved teachers of our Sivananda Essentials Courses. He teaches with love, compassion, and care for his students, while delivering the materials in a very clear and coherent manner. Pranava Chaitanya is also a member of the Hatha Yoga team of our Yoga Teacher Training Courses (TTCs) at the ashram. He is the manager of the ashram kitchen and an expert on yogic and Ayurvedic nutrition and diet.
