Experience unique instrumental and dance performances and workshops featuring the ancient melody of sitar accompanied by tabla and bharatnaryam classical south Indian Dance. Uttar-Dakshin unites two classical music traditions of India – creating a space of melody and rhythm where North Indian & South Indian musical traditions merge to become one musical panorama.

Uttar-Dakshin promises to offer discerning music-lovers the beauty of bharatnatyam and  versatility of sitar and tabla, time-honoured kritis juxtaposed with meditative ragas and bharatnatyam showing the path of yoga. This program is a unique blend on tradition and imagination, and classicism with a contemporary face.

Offered as 2 satsangs and 2 workshops (subject to change).

Talent, virtuosity and youthful dynamism blend in perfect proportion to project Indranil Mallick, as a leading tabla player of his generation. Intensive training since the age of 5 under eminent masters including uncle Montu Mallick, Prof Dhabol Bandyopadhysy, Shri Uttam, Chakraborty, and currently, living legend Pandit Swapan Chaudhuri have shaped Indranil’s rich repertoire and contributed to his reputation in the national & international arena.

Indranil has also distinguished himself in cross-over collaborations with western musicians including a recent project with Miles Davis Electric Band.

Indian Radio and Television have awarded Indranil “A grade ” together with distinguished musicians of India. Lauded by connoisseurs & critics for his solo performances and accompaniment with renowned musicians, Indranil was the first tabla player to receive the prestigious Pandit Bhimsen Joshi Award in 2015.

Indro Roy Chaudhuri is a global music artist, sitarist, and composer whose work bridges Indian classical tradition with modern, cross-cultural soundscapes. Rooted in a rich musical lineage yet shaped by a contemporary artistic vision, Indro brings a distinctive voice to today’s world music landscape. His sound blends the depth of raga with atmospheric textures, symphonic arrangements, and collaborative influences from across genres. ​ Indro has performed at many of India’s most prestigious festivals, including the Dover Lane Music Conference, and has collaborated with leading ensembles such as the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra and the New Jersey Symphony. He has scored music for award winning films and has also served as visiting faculty at the University of Pennsylvania.

Oindrila Roy Mallick is a well-known dancer among the younger generation of Bharatanatyam dancers. Trained initially under late Guru K. P.P Thampi from the age of five. Oindrila honed her dance skills further under Legendary Guru Khagendra Nath Barman, one of the most senior disciples of Guru Rukmini Devi Arundale, Founder of unique “Kalakshetra”Style (Bharataatyam).From 2011 she started leaning under the guidance of Guru Abhoy Pal  of kalamandalam Style. So Oindrla’s dance reflects the cumulative richness of her learning experience. Her passion remains deeply rooted in classical dance. As a Bharatnatyam dancer Oindrila’s Hallmark remains in her ability to captivate her audience by bringing forth the inherent beauty of Bharatanatyam.

Recently she is awarded by the “Chairman’s Award” by International Multicultural
Dance and Music Festival in Pune, India. In 2021 she received “The best BharatanatyamDancer” award from Lions club Chennai. She also holds a Master Degree in Bharatanatyam from Rabindra Bharati University and got the distinction.
