How to Teach Yoga to Children (ages 2-17)

This 9-day in-person portion of the hybrid course is offered to ANYONE (teachers, parents, caregivers, therapists), who wishes to introduce and practice yoga with the children in their lives. As a hybrid course, both the online and in-person sections must be completed, and each have a separate tuition. The online platform will contain all the relevant materials for the course.

This course provides concrete tools and practical applications that are presented in a simple to follow sequence. You will gain a deep understanding of the application of yogic philosophy, education pedagogy, phases of human development, movement and sensory integration practice which are all at the heart of every lesson created by the teacher. Develop the craft of nourishing seasonal awareness, the art of cultural/ mythical storytelling and a practical knowledge of yoga philosophy into each lesson

• Come to the training classes with an open mind and an activated IMAGINATION! • Study, work on all experiential exercises, observe, practice teach.
• Place it all in the center of your heart, complete your open book exam.
• Become a Certified Flower Yoga Teacher and grow your garden in the hearts of all your serve.

Flower Yoga is a 95-hour Specialty Training Course that is a Registered Children’s Yoga School (RCYS) through the National Yoga Alliance. RYT 200 or 500 level Yoga teachers wishing to become Registered Children’s Yoga Teachers (RCYT) will be eligible to register upon the completion of this course.

You DO NOT have to be a Registered Yoga Teacher to take this course, but you must have a yoga practice.

This hybrid 95hr Children’s Yoga Teacher Training Course takes place both in-person and online with TEACHABLE platform. You MUST register for BOTH PARTS of this course in order to participate.

How to register:

Part 1: Register for In-person part of the training/accommodations and make flight reservations.
Part 2: Register for the ONLINE part of the training. Access to the online platform opens after registration is completed.
Part 3: Complete Introduction/ meet and Greet section of the platform by June 1, 2027.
Part 4: Complete Module 1 and Module 2 before June 15, 2027.

We suggest you arrive at least one day prior to the start of this course and stay until at least one day after the course ends for the optimal experience.

Omkari (Tara Rachel Jones), M.Ed., E-RYT 500, RCYT, has worked with children and families professionally since 1989 and a Yoga Educator for Children since 1993. She has a B.A. in Early Childhood Education, a M.Ed. In Waldorf Early Childhood and Elementary Education, a certified and experienced Montessori Teacher, and experienced with Reggio Emilia and mainstream school teachings. She is a certified Simplicity Parenting Couch and Group Leader. Tara Rachel has been a certified Zen Shiatsu Therapist since 2005. She has been studying yoga since 1992, teaching yoga to adults, teens, youth, families and children of all ages in the Boston area since 1997. She has offered training workshops since 2000.

Omkari was Director and Lead Teacher of both, Family Week for 25 years and taught a Youth Yoga Retreat for ages 11-14 for 16 years at Sivananda Yoga Ranch, directed and taught numerous Family Yoga Vacations at the Yoga Retreat for 11 years, taught numerous Introductions to Children’s Yoga for TTC’s and offered her Children’s Yoga Teacher Trainings since 2011.

Your course schedule has been designed by the presenter to provide a holistic educational experience, and includes course presentation time, mealtimes, and free time for you to enjoy the beach and the grounds and participate in the ashram’s daily programs.
