Essential Attitudes for Success on the Spiritual Path

Asha Nayaswami

The determining factor between success and failure on the spiritual path is not technique or rituals. It is having the right attitude. Spiritual seekers sometimes become too focused on results. When those results don’t come in the hoped for time or way, discouragement sets in, and the entire quest may be abandoned. Right attitude is what empowers the truth-seeker to keep on keeping on — come what may! We will focus on a few essential ways of approaching the spiritual path — whatever path you follow — that will give you the power to persevere until the goal is reached.

We will cover the following:

Courage
We come on to the spiritual path for joy, but the way is strewn with thorns as well as roses. Every delusion has to be faced and overcome. To find God, we have to live and love heroically.

Positive thinking at all times
It isn’t enough just to affirm right attitudes. We have to re-program our whole way of perceiving life. Ego wants ease and pleasure. The soul wants freedom. Every problem has a solution because all difficulties ultimately resolve into bliss. Why waste time in suffering and worry?

Even-minded and cheerful
This is an energy universe. The determining force is the quality of our magnetism, which is determined by our thoughts and feelings. When we succumb to the downward pulling forces of agitation and pessimism, it becomes self-fulfilling prophecy. Calmness and joy brings victory over all challenges.

Question and Answer Session
Always wide-ranging, heart-opening, mind-expanding, funny, fascinating. Anything you’ve wondered about, this is a time to bring it up.

Serving the Divine in all — God Alone
Everything in creation is a manifestation of God. Even the hardest times are just Divine Mother helping us to grow, to shift our understanding of life from “What can I get?” to “What can I give?” That is the path to freedom.

Offered as 3 satsangs and 2 workshops (subject to change).

In 1969, when she was 22, Asha met Swami Kriyananda, a direct disciple of Paramahansa Yogananda. Recognition was instantaneous. From that day to the present Asha has dedicated herself to learning and practicing the teachings of Yogananda as Swami Kriyananda taught them. She is a founding member of two Ananda spiritual communities, the first, Ananda Village, located in a rural area. The second, Ananda Palo Alto in Silicon Valley in California, where she has resided for the last 36 years. Asha is Ananda’s “Global Ambassador,” sharing the Guru’s teachings all over the world. She is the author of four books and has an extensive presence on YouTube and Instagram.
