Chair Yoga: Accessible. Empowering. Transformative.
Yoga was never meant to be exclusive—it was meant to meet you exactly where you are. Whether you’re navigating physical limitations, spend much of your day in a chair, or simply find traditional yoga classes too demanding, this program is your invitation to rediscover the healing power of movement, breath, and inner stillness.
From 8–10 am each morning, this enriching experience replaces our standard Sivananda Yoga class with a thoughtful and rejuvenating alternative: a 1-hour guided Chair Yoga practice, followed by a vibrant, down-to-earth discussion exploring yoga philosophy and the principles of healthy, conscious living. You’ll learn a complete yoga sequence that engages the entire body—gently, safely, and effectively—while calming the nervous system and sharpening mental clarity. Optional standing poses will also be offered using the chair as support, allowing you to explore your full potential with confidence.
But this program goes far beyond physical practice. You’ll explore the yogic view on aging and vitality, and gain insight into the three gunas—sattva, rajas, and tamas—as powerful tools to understand and shape your emotional and mental wellbeing. You’ll walk away not only feeling better physically, but also spiritually renewed and equipped with practical tools to carry yoga into every corner of your daily life.
Whether you’re a lifelong practitioner or returning after a pause, this course will remind you that yoga is not about how the pose looks—it’s about how it feels, and how it supports you in living a more easeful, present, and empowered life.
Participants will receive a digital handout of the sequence for home practice. We encourage you to arrive at least one day before the program begins and stay one day after to integrate and fully absorb the experience.
If you’re ready to reconnect with your body, rediscover your strength, and feel at home in your practice again—this is your moment. Join us.
We suggest you arrive at least one day prior to the start of this course and stay until at least one day after the course ends for the optimal experience.

Anjaneya, Michael Hutkins, is a yoga teacher, trainer and yoga therapist, living in Cantley, Quebec. Studying at several Sivananda ashrams in Canada, the USA and India has allowed Anjaneya to live with his teachers and be fully immersed in the yoga experience.
He first became interested in chair yoga when sharing yoga with his grandparents and this motivated him to learn more about it and begin sharing chair yoga in retirement homes and long term care facilities as well as with corporate clients.
Through teaching traditional yoga classes Anjaneya also observed that many students needed adaptations to make the practice more accessible. Studying with many experienced teachers, he learned to adapt the practice to all students, from minor modifications to large adaptations due to more severe injuries or limitation without losing the essence of the practice. Now Anjaneya is happy to share his 20 years of teaching and training experience with you.
