Bhakti Yoga

Living a Life of Devotion

Rob and Melissa

Join Rob and Melissa for an exploration of Bhakti Yoga, the yoga of devotion, also called “The Yoga of Love.” Together, through kirtan, mantra, meditation, storytelling, and Satsang, we’ll discover the purpose and direction that comes from following your heart on a path of devotion.

Rob and Melissa will lead evening kirtan (call and response chanting) sessions and experiential Bhakti yoga workshops in the afternoon.

Workshop One:

Hanuman’s Leap of Faith

Hanuman, the Monkey God, is the perfect combination of Strength, Service, Humility and Devotion. Take the leap of faith from the head to the heart and awaken these qualities in yourself in this unique workshop.

Workshop two:

The 9 Modes of Bhakti Yoga

Similar to the 8 limbs of Patanjali’s yoga, Bhakti yoga has 9 modes. Learn about the 9 modes in this engaging workshop, where we’ll unpack the ‘what’, the ‘why’, and the ‘how’ of the devotional practice of Bhakti yoga.

Workshop 3:

By Lakshmi’s Grace

Lakshmi is the Goddess of Abundance, Fertility and Beauty. Everything in our lives is a gift from the Divine Mother, and this workshop is designed to bring us into direct connection and alignment with the cosmic flow of Lakshmi’s Grace.

Offered as 2 satsangs and 3 workshops (subject to change).

The presentations associated with this Yoga Vacation Program begin with an 8pm satsang on the first day of the program and conclude with a 90-minute 2PM workshop on the last day of the program.  Click here to read more about the Yoga Vacation Program details and view the ashram schedule for yoga classes and meals during your stay. We suggest you arrive at least one day prior to the start of your program for the optimal experience.

Rob and Melissa are kirtan singers and yoga teachers devoted to sharing the heart-opening practices of Bhakti yoga and kirtan, call-and-response chanting. Kirtan with Rob and Melissa is a fresh take on an ancient practice, where Sanskrit chants blend with modern, accessible melodies and lush harmonies to create an atmosphere that has been described as “joyful medicine,” “heart-opening bliss” and “love and devotion materialized!”

When Rob and Melissa first met, neither of them sang kirtan nor practiced Bhakti yoga. By the time they married two years later, love and devotion had become the foundation of their partnership. As these seeds of devotion to each other grew, Rob and Melissa’s Bhakti yoga practice blossomed, as well as the desire to share this love with others. Their music, teachings, and storytelling create a space of comfort, discovery, and deep joy.

Rob and Melissa are based in Seattle, WA, but their music keeps them on the move, sharing kirtan as far away as India, Europe, and Central America. When they aren’t on the road, the couple leads regular kirtans in the Pacific Northwest. In addition to sharing their music at yoga studios and festivals, they teach Bhakti yoga workshops, kirtan trainings, provide live music for yoga classes and lead retreats around the world.
