This retreat is designed for beginners, writers in need of encouragement, and seasoned writers hoping to establish a more productive and nourishing writing routine. Using the principles of Ayurveda and the doshas, we will explore how to direct our attention, creativity, and focus toward the page. The doshas are our unique mind-body constitutions, shaped by the elements of space, air, fire, water, and earth. By understanding the essence of your dosha, you can create a writing practice that aligns with who you are — your natural rhythms, energy, and elemental makeup.
Meditation will guide us into writing prompts and exercises, which we will share with the group. Through active listening, we will offer reflections focused on what moved us, what sounded beautiful, and what resonated in your work. This supportive approach encourages you to write more freely and quiet the inner critic. Craft and technical tools may be offered when helpful, but this is not a traditional critique workshop. There is no criticism or judgment here — only support, encouragement, and love.
We will also discuss how to create a nurturing writing environment using principles of Vastu Shastra (Vedic Feng Shui), to set up your writing space, daily rhythms, supportive foods, ideal writing times, and other Ayurvedic lifestyle practices. These tools can help you establish a clear, sustainable routine designed to support your creativity and well-being.
There is no single writing process that works for everyone — together, we’ll discover what works best for you.
We suggest you arrive at least one day prior to the start of this course and stay until at least one day after the course ends for the optimal experience.
