TCTSY Foundational Training
An Introduction to Trauma Sensitive Yoga
The TCTSY Foundational Training offers a comprehensive introduction to the core principles and applications of Trauma Center Trauma Sensitive Yoga (TCTSY). Designed for yoga teachers, mental health professionals, service providers, and individuals seeking to better understand trauma, this training explores both the science and lived experience of trauma and its profound impact on the nervous system.
Key Areas of Study:
Trauma Theory, Attachment Theory, Neuroscience, and Interoceptive Awareness
Neurophysiology & the biology of stress (how trauma impacts the brain)
The spectrum of trauma impacts, including complex trauma as lived experience
Unique to TCTSY, this program is grounded in more than 20 years of peer-reviewed research, making it the most rigorously studied, yoga-based treatment modality for trauma. Over five immersive days, participants will have opportunities to integrate theory into practice—exploring not only professional application but also their own relationship to trauma within broader social and systemic contexts.
Benefits of Attending:
Deepen awareness of power, oppression, and intersectionality
Learn the foundations of building trauma-sensitive relationships
Gain insight into key elements of TCTSY methodology and current research
Understand early adverse childhood experiences (ACES) and their long-term effects on physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual well-being
Completion of this training provides a strong foundation for making your scope of practice more trauma-informed and is the primary prerequisite for the annual 300-hour TCTSY Certification Program. While this course does not qualify participants as Certified Facilitators, it equips them with essential knowledge and practices to better serve diverse populations with sensitivity, awareness, and care.
PLEASE NOTE: There will be approximately 4 hours of reading to be completed prior to arrival and will count toward the 20 hours of training.
We suggest you arrive at least one day prior to the start of this course and stay until at least one day after the course ends for the optimal experience.

Lidia Snyder is a Licensed Master Social Worker(LMSW), Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT-500), and Certified Trauma Center Trauma Sensitive Yoga Facilitator and trainer (TCTSY-F) and a firm believer in the capacity of yoga to enhance and change lives. A personal yoga practice brought many benefits to Lidia and this spawned her pursuit of the mind/body connection on a deeper level. Combining her passion for social justice and yoga led her to complete her training with the Prison Yoga Project, Himalayan Institute, and followed by a 300 hour Certification from the Trauma Center in Boston, MA.
While she facilitates in traditional Hatha yoga practice spaces, the majority of her work is delivering TCTSY in mental and behavioral healthcare settings for both staff and consumers. In addition to other published works, she is a contributing author on the recently published YOGA and RESILIENCE: Empowering Practices for Survivors of Sexual Trauma.
