Farah Yasmeen Shaikh is an international Kathak artist, and Founder and Artistic Director of Noorani Dance. Trained for two decades by world renowned master, the late Pandit Chitresh Das, Farah is known for her powerful and evocative storytelling, technical precision, delicacy and grace. Farah performs traditional and innovative works, most notably, a solo dynamic dance drama, The Forgotten Empress, focused on the life of Mughal Empress Noor Jahan, and her newest work The Partition Project based on the 1947 India-Pakistan Partition, is a performance of dance, theater, music and multimedia inspired by true lived experiences of this pivotal time in South Asian history. As an instructor, Farah trains students of all ages in the San Francisco Bay Area, and also works extensively in Pakistan, performing and teaching regularly at prestigious venues and institutions throughout the country.
