May 25 - 29, 2014

Description

The wisdom imparted by Krishna in the Bhagavad-gita, echoing the earlier teachings of sages in the Upanisads, directs us towards the immortal Self through the process of Yoga. We will examine the paths of Karma, Bhakti and Jnana through the three sections of the Gita in which these are described, supplemented by extracts from the teachings of Patanjali in the Yoga-sutra. Special attention will be focused on the meanings of the various Sanskrit terms employed, which will enrich our understanding of these sacred texts.
